New Zealand’s unique environment has shaped some of the most remarkable plant species in the world, growing in isolation for millions of years. Many of our native botanicals have developed exceptional resilience and protective compounds to survive challenges – from intense sunlight and coastal environments to changing climates. These naturally occurring compounds make New Zealand bioactives so valuable in skincare!
New Zealand’s clean, pristine environment offers some wonderful resources – like our seaweed that is so clean, far from the micro-plastic contamination in many other places. Another example is our nutritious volcanic soil that makes plants richer in antioxidants.

The development of our product collection has been a journey of patience, taking 18 months to perfect each formula.
Every cream begins with the question: What does the skin truly need?
The foundation – plant oils
Each formulation starts with carefully selecting plant oils, many of them organic, for their ability to nourish and support the skin. These oils become the foundation for our creams, creating the perfect environment to incorporate our hero ingredients...
NZ botanical and marine bioactives
We’ve carefully selected New Zealand-grown bioactives extracted to preserve their beneficial properties – to be incorporated in meaningful concentrations. Each ingredient brings together nature’s intelligence and modern cosmetic science to support skin vitality, balance, and resilience.
Refining recipes and scents
We balance the ingredients to create the right textures and develop scents to enhance the user’s experience.
For selected products, our signature fragrances were carefully created in collaboration with a professional perfumer, ensuring they enhanced, rather than overpowered, the natural character of the formulations.
Partners and supply chains
Our face cream range is proudly created with New Zealand supply chains. From native bioactives to specialist labs and manufacturing partners, every step reflects our commitment to local expertise, thoughtful sourcing, and exceptional quality.

Rigorous testing
Before any cream reaches your hands, every formula undergoes rigorous stability testing to ensure quality, safety, and consistency throughout its shelf life.
Balms
Our Arnica & Comfrey Balms start in the garden, where we carefully harvest the leaves and roots at the right time for the plant's optimum vitality and healing benefits.
These are gently infused into nourishing oils over time, allowing the plant's valuable compounds to be absorbed naturally. We don't rush this process, but work with nature’s own rhythm.
This includes:
Essential oils with lovely aromas
Antioxidants
Pigments (such as carotenoids)
Fat-soluble vitamins
Plant lipids and waxes
Bioactive compounds supporting plant protection
The oil becomes enriched with the plant's biological activity, along with its colour, scent, and health-giving qualities.
When the infused oils are ready, they are blended and slowly warmed with organic beeswax to create a rich, comforting balm. This is then carefully poured into jars and labelled.
This thoughtful process ensures each product reflects the care, quality, and intention that define Nora Biocosmetics.
